Makeup Review : Violet Voss Holy Grail Palette

Violet Voss Holy grail palette review and swatches :

A little while ago I got the violet Voss holy grail eyeshadow palette. This palette has been so hyped up on YouTube and Instagram I had to have it. This is a definite case of you tube made me buy it!!

The Holy Grail palette is regularly out of stock (its sold out currently) and every time they restock it sells out super fast.

I placed my order on nov 18th 2016 and I didn’t receive the palette until December 13th2016. The price is $45 USD and the shipping ( to Toronto Canada) was $18 USD making it a total of $63 USD or $87.55 CAD. But was it worth it? I will answer that at the end and I will also post the ingredients at the very bottom if you are interested.

Now that’s out of the way lets get to the Palette.  First off I really do like the colour scheme and packaging. If you are a cool tone eye shadow lover stop now because there is none in this palette. I do find most of the shades to be on the warm toned side of things.

You get 20 colours with a mixture of matte, metal and satin finishes. Each pan contains 1.8 grams of product for a total of 1.26 oz. net weight. There are 8 matte shades, 8 satin shades and 4 metals shades. My Favourite Colours in this palette are Ploof, Transition, Awesome sauce, Bestie, Bat My Eyes,On Fleek , Brownie Points, Teddy bear and Wine N Dine.

This Holy grail palette is a nice eyeshadow palette with great selection but for the cost I find the price to be pretty high. When I factor in the fact its almost $90 CDN with shipping , I can get Anastasia Beverly hills modern renaissance for only $55 Canadian (I receive free shipping on Sephora at $50).

I really love the colours in this holy grail palette don’t get me wrong but the cost I find is my main issue. These shadows are good but not $90 good. I have been able to do some beautiful looks with this palette and it is definitely here to stay and will be used .

I don’t think I would repurchase at that price , is it worth $40 yes absolutely. For me that high price tag and waiting almost a month when I paid $18 for shipping all didn’t sit well with me. Also I do find the formula to be very inconsistent throughout the palette. Some are great and some not so great so this was a downside to me.

I have heard a lot of people say the makeup formula feels like the Morphe Brushes premium eye shadows. I googled it and compared the ingredients and they are extremely similar. They are made in china but they do claim to be both vegan and cruelty free.

I will say I do think I judge palettes more harshly the more I pay for them like i am sure most of you would understand. If  i am paying almost over 60 for  and eyeshadow palette i want it to be like the best thing since sliced bread. I think this palette is in the higher end of the price point even for professional makeup palettes. So I think if you look at other palettes in the same price range (Anastasia Beverly hills , tarte cosmetics, Too faced Ect)  which are all less expensive and you can get a lot of amazing palettes in that price Point.

a Makeup Look i did With the Violet Voss Holy Grail palette

Pros:

20 shades of beautiful colours

A great mix of textures ( matte ,metals and satin )

Beautiful large packaging with a mirror

The shadow names are everything!!

Cons:

Price ($45usd + $18usd Shipping )

Shipping time (waited almost a month)

Inconsistency with the formula

Final Verdict : is it is a fun palette but when asked is it worth the price? my answer in this case would be no!

I really hope this helps you guys if you are thinking of purchasing this palette.
