Spring Makeup Review | Mary Kay Spring 2017| The Beauty Edition

Mary Kay Cosmetics Light, Reinvented Collection Spring Makeup Review:

Spring is almost upon us and Mary Kay Cosmetics  has just launched a beautiful limited edition spring collections and some of these colours scream “ the winter is gone, it’s time for bright colours and tan lines “.

Mary kay was kind enough to send me these items for a spring makeup review and when I opened this package I was beyond excited because jewel tones and pastels is everywhere I want to be. There is something magical about how certain colours just put you in a spring mindset. When I see colours like this I instantly feel like I need to tan and buy some new flip flops.

The spring collection has 2 eyeshadow quads ,3 lip oils and 4 beautiful nail polishes. The collection is called Light, Reinvented Collection

Limited Edition Eye Colour palettes:

The colours in each palette have been chosen to be used as a single colour or used together for a light ombre effect.  They have fade and crease resistant properties (which makes these ideal for all ages and skin types). These shadows are more muted and subtle but with a little fix plus on a brush you can deepen the colours. All of the colours are more of a shimmery shadow I don’t find any of these colours to be a true matte. The Eye Colour palettes are $26 CDN each.

Glistening Horizon:

Out of the two palettes this is my favourite. This combination has a very pastel blue, a gleaming sapphire blue , a medium purple and my favourite is the soft pink under toned shimmery colour (perfect to double as a highlighter).

For this look i was inspired by the Kylie Jenner royal peach look

Sunlight :

This is the palette when I first saw them I was more drawn to this one but then the shimmer in the other palette caught my eye. The light purple and the shimmer shade in this palette don’t really show up on my fair skin so I use them as a base those two colours from this palette I also found a touch chalky but they were very blendable. The orange and dark pink however are stunning and subtle. The orange I honestly thought I wasn’t going to like but when you put it on it’s truly subtle and beautifully unique. I would honestly buy this for the orange alone. (I used the purple under my eyes as a corrector and it work to brighten the under eye .

Glossy Lip Oils :

Mary Kay Spring Lip Oils in ( from top to bottom) Sheer Pink,Brilliant Violet and Magenta Ray

I could ramble on about these for hours out of all of the products, these are hands down my favourites from this collection. When i  saw these are called lip oils  … i was  like wait what? But these are the most comfortable lip products. The colours look very vivid but they are very sheer. Mary Kay Lip Oils feel similar to a Lip gloss in texture but without being sticky. I really have been wearing these pretty much everyday because they are so great its very hydrating and sheer but still looks really beautiful. The Lip Oils are $19 CDN each.

Nail Lacquer:

Mary Kay Nail Lacquer in (from left to right ) Brilliant Violet, Luminous Mauve, New Blue, Vivid Sunburst

These nail lacquers are scratch resistant nail polishes that dry to an instant satin finish and the colours do not fade. They have 4 colours in the collection and these are very easy to apply and the colours are very vivid. I gave each a 24hr wear test and they didn’t chip I also did not put a top coat on them and they still looked really good. I think these colours are so gorgeous for spring and I will definitely be rocking these colours all spring! The Nail Lacquers are $10 CDN each.

  • Vivid Sunburst : a coral/ orange colour

  • Luminous Mauve: a very light mauve

  • Brilliant Violet: a deeper purple mauve (this one has a matching lip oil)

Mary kay Brilliant Violet Nail Lacquer ( it looks more of a purple in person)
  • New Blue : a light pastel blue ( almost a robins egg’s egg blue)

I really enjoyed this Light , Reinvented Collection. The nail lacquer shades are very beautiful and vivid  you almost don’t need a second coat. Mary Kay’s lip oils are very subtle and pretty , yet so comfortable and hydrating . Some of the eyeshadow’s are really pretty some are not for me but overall i really think this spring launch is a good one. Go check out Mary Kay Cosmetics new spring collection.
