IMATS Event Recap!
A little while ago I had the pleasure of attending IMATS Toronto. IMATS Is a makeup artistry show which allows you to see what’s new in makeup, connect with other makeup artists. Also, you can go to workshops to learn from your favourite artists and the best part shop until you drop with some of the best makeup companies around.
I have gone to IMATS the past 2 years and I have to say this year was a bit smaller than in previous years but I kind of liked it. I felt more at ease and also I was able to speak with some artists who inspire me as well as connect with brands.
Makeup Artist Stick together.
Seeing all the latest trends at IMATS was phenomenal but seeing a few makeup artist quality vegan makeup brands really made me beyond happy. I was so excited to see these products because as an artist I have become somewhat limited due to not having vegan products as go to’s but that is all about to change!
Sian is so charismatic and one of the sweetest bad-ass women I know. Not only is her artistry and skill beyond compare ( no joke working with her and learning from her would be a dream), But she has created a makeup and brush line that will blow you away.Meeting her at IMATS was a real pleasure.
Sian has her company London Brush Company( soon to be just Sian Richards I believe)but almost all of her products are vegan and cruelty-free.
If you like Wayne goss brushes listen up!
She has a brush line of the highest quality hand made in new york. Vegan blue squirrel really shocked me as if you know about makeup brushes blue squirrel is the cream of the crop but now you can have all the quality without the harm. All of her brushes are well made, and some of the softest most versatile brushes I have ever seen. They are priced very fairly considering their cruel equals are a lot more expensive.
I also got to see her pro foundation/colour palettes and both the alcohol and cream formulas are to die for. Both formulas are extremely long wearing, budge proof and it’s can self-set depending on the finish you are looking for. The products are vegan and really great, the foundation is very buildable to any desired coverage. I got the ether palette and I have used it on myself and others and I have to say I wore this foundation from 9 am until 1 am the next morning at a wedding and my foundation was flawless from beginning to end. If you are looking for vegan professional quality palettes or brushes check Sian’s website.
Mehron is a well know pro artistry company. They are used in the products of everything from film to bridal. Excellent Formulas and I was able to have a great conversation with Melody from The company and learned that they too are incorporating so many vegan/cruelty-free products.
They graciously gifted me with a pot of their Celebre Pro-HD cream foundation to try out and I really liked the formula. The finish was beautiful and the product was very long wearing and photo ready. Not only do they have amazing beauty products but also have a lot of fx makeup. I really look forward to trying more from them.
Veil is a Cruelty-Free and Vegan company that has some really cool products. I had the pleasure of chatting with Sebastien the owner of Veil. He is so passionate about his products and has created some really great products. He Gave me a full product demonstration and I was very intrigued. They have 3 main products Veil Weightless complexion solutions, Primer/serum, Foundation and colour corrector concealer/highlighter. These three are self-setting and great on the skin.
Such a great person and he really is so funny and sweet! Full Review Coming Soon!
I have talked about them before and I picked up some more brushes to review from them. I first got introduced to them at Gen Beauty Toronto and seeing this vegan brush company again was great. They really have good brushes and very budget friendly. Super cute styles and colours everything from bright blue to rose gold and everything in between.Their Moda Metalics and Omina Collections are so far my favourites and I want to get the whole collection of both. Super soft and durable plus they photograph well (rose gold speaks to me). P.S. their travel kits are really cute.
I had some really great conversations here and also picked up my new favourite setting powder. The setting powder is so finely milled but does not flash back. If you haven’t checked them out you really should. The company is Cruelty-Free with some vegan products.
The setting powder is vegan and is hands down one of my favourites. I reach for it all the time.
The Lip Bar is a great black owned indie brand I learned about at IMATS.The lip products are vegan, cruelty-free and the owner started making lipsticks in her kitchen to now having a great line of lip products with shades for every skin tone and colour! She has made a great brand that is ethical all the way around. If you struggle to find the perfect nude lip look no further because she truly has made one for every skin colour and tone. The lip products were very exciting and I can’t wait to try them.
I had such a great time at IMATS and the companies I mentioned are the ones that stood out to me as a vegan but so many companies were there. Great brands and a lot of fun!It was great seeing some startups and minority owned companies. I love indie brands because they truly put their heart into their brand and it shows. Some of the best quality makeup comes from indie brands and I feel like these brands should be getting more attention. Loved the show and the workshops and I can’t wait to do it all again next year!! If you attended who caught your eye?
Thank you for being here and have a great weekend.
