Veil Cosmetics Review
Veil Cosmetics is a relatively new cosmetics company and I had the pleasure of meeting the founder. At IMATS Toronto I was able to see the line and I must say I really love the concept. Sebastien is a very talented makeup artist who has such a passion for having a weightless cake free application while also integrating the best ingredients from skincare to create makeup that actually is good for your skin.
The Veil Cosmetics line at the moment contains 3 different products a foundation, primer and highlighting/ brightening pen. One of the things that really impressed me was for a smaller line he really has created a little something for everyone and made sure to try and include all skin-tones from the palest girls to the deeper skin-tones.
Complexion Fix$42 4ml:
This pen style concealer is great for highlighting and light concealing. The great thing about this concealer is that it self-sets! No more creases or setting powders needed. I really enjoy this for my everyday looks where I don’t want a ton of coverage. For nights out I do prefer more coverage but this is definitely buildable. The click pen style makes sure you don’t waste a lot of product and is very easy to use. This comes in 5 colours ( porcelain, Light, Medium, Tan and deep). Within each of the 5 colours is another 3 shade choices (pink undertone, neutral and gold undertone) so there really is a shade for everyone. This concealer is expensive at $42but I would pay it again because it really does brighten my under eye area.
Sunset Light Primer $45 30ml/1oz:
The primer from veil is one of my favs! This water-based primer sits really well on the skin and provides a glowy/dewy finish. This primer feels so light on the skin and really helps keep your skin and makeup looking great all day. It has serum strength skincare inside to help brighten, soothe and hydrate the skin and can even be used as a mixer to turn your fav foundation into a bb cream for daytime/ no makeup, makeup looks. For my sensitive skin, this is one of the few primers that doesn’t aggravate my skin or cause breakouts. Also, it cuts down on the dry texture I get from time to time (alligator problems).
Sunset Skin $49 for 30ml/1oz:
The Sunset skin Foundation is one of the few foundations I would say fits most skin-types. I have used this on myself and others and from my dry skin to others oily skin we all seem to love it. It’s a sheer to medium coverage that I love for my everyday foundations and it’s not sticky at all and has a smooth dry down. Through some magic, this foundation is both hydrating and oil-free and it comes in 15 Shades.
Overall, I think with Veil cosmetics less is more. They don’t yet have a ton of products but what they do have is perfection. Veil Cosmetics is completely Cruelty-Free and Vegan with a great makeup artist designing the products most of us mua’s wish for. All of these products are super easy to use, so you don’t need to be a makeup artist to truly get a flawless finish.
I tested these out as well when I was I Mexico and it really held up in the heat. No streaks or melting foundation in sight and a dewy but not oily finish even in those temperatures. Veil cosmetics is a higher end brand with a price tag to match but I really love their products and I can’t wait to see what they do next. Head over to Veil Cosmetics to learn more and find you shade!
Have a great weekend!
