“I’ll Get you my pretty and your little dog too”
Just before Halloween, I got an invite to attend another Vegan Social Events hosted by Avra from LoveWildLiveFree and Alexandria of universeofali. The theme of this event was a wizard of oz (or oddz) and the event would benefit Storybook Farm Primate Sanctuary. So my love of all things vegan and getting to dress like Dorothy for a day (ruby slippers and all) had me headed down to fabric land to DIY my costume!
Getting to the event held at the Armours heights officers mess in Toronto was magical from the smoky garden to the yellow brick road leading to one of the most amazing venues with lots of history to boot! The event was so well decorated with monkey prize balloons, a food room for tasting some new fancy treats as well as free vegan pizza from panago (who doesn’t love pizza).
They had a movie room so you could watch the classic movie to a dance floor full of entertainment and they had DJ Candy Warhol spinning all night for all your dancing desires. The Event Was sponsored by Plant Trainers who help people with nutrition advice and all your health based needs.
Vegan Social Events and all that glitters!
The event featured performances by the super talented drag performer Sofonda Cox And Coco Framboise with a burlesque performance that definitely turned up the heat. But the reason well all came together was to give our support to storybook farm. What they do in saving the lives of primates from testing facilities and labs is an inspiration and the way they show these beautiful creatures that not all of our kind is like those who tortured them. I am sure everyone one reading this vegan or not can get behind their message and if you want to see true creativity just check out patches Warhols paints on Instagram and other social media (yes a monkey that PAINTS). If any of you are looking for a great cause to donate too please check them out.
Keep calm and go vegan!
The event had a lot of games and cool spaces. The bar had some super cute custom cocktails and the monkey balloons could be poped for $5 and you could win prizes. The food room had my personal favs Nona’s cheese sauce over nachos and Stokes wonderfully decadent cheese. they also had some new vendors with everything from waffles to Ethiopian style dishes. All of it was so delicious and then there was the silent auction. So many people donated things for a great silent auction. I was so happy to see that almost everyone bid because why not great things and it’s for a great cause.
Oh, what a night!
Overall from great dancing to the even better conversation. I would say the event was a huge success and I had a blast! My apartment may never recover from the glitter that went into my DIY ruby slippers (if you ever do it, go outside )but it was all worth it. Thank you, Avra for the invite to this Vegan Social Events and I can’t wait to see everyone again.
p.s. The swag bags were great, from tasty treats to pixie mood wallets!
