“Ring in the new year with a new you”
First of all, I hope everyone had a great holiday season. As we enter a new year it’s time to set up those old New Years Resolutions. I love this time of year because its a time to look back at the previous year to see how you have grown and to look forward to a new year full of potential. We all know by mid-January most of us have already fallen off track.
“The rest is still unwritten”
The New Years resolutions can be hard to follow but I find these top tips help to keep you on track.
1. Write it down!!
Writing it down is one of my top tips for keeping your resolutions. The physical act of putting it into a list that you see constantly can be a great motivator and a perfect reminder.I try and add it to as many places I constantly see as possible whether that’s a journal or my favorite a day planner. Notes on your phone or even the good old sticky note on your mirror can be helpful. Use anything you can to remind yourself of your goals.
2. Make a dream board….
I know a dream board is not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea but I do believe they serve a great purpose. Making a board filled with goals and pictures on your dream car or dream job can be a great way of visualizing your goals. Sometimes seeing it clearly can really add the picture in your mind to keep your going through the hard times and keep your eye on the prize.
3. Set reminders on your phone.
Setting up monthly reminders or every few months on your phone can also be a great way of putting you back on track. Sometimes we get caught up in our day to day and forget to take time for ourselves. Having a reminder set up on your phone can be a great tool to get out of your slump. Go get your goals!!
4. Do it with a Friend!
Doing it with a friend can be fun but also they can keep you accountable and you can keep them accountable. Whether your goals are to get fit, take better care of your health or even to get a promotion I find doing it with someone motivates me. Most of us hate disappointing people so mentally it can keep your head in the game. Even if you have different goals it’s just good to have someone who calls you on your excuses (trust me we all do it).
Bring it on 2018!
Those are the top 4 things that I have found help me to stay focused. With a new year, we can reset ourselves to killing it in 2018. Go out there and smash your goals because you deserve it. We can be our own worst enemy at times. Life has a crazy way of taking us off track so I hope these tips help to bring you back to achieving everything you desire in 2018.
